NRP 100 - Role of the LPN Role of the LPN introduces the student to the Caring Philosophy of the Nursing Department at Owens Community College. The concepts of caring and critical thinking, the impact of cultural diversity and spirituality on client health across the life-span, the impact of legal, economical, political and historical influences on client care, and the components of the Nursing Process as it applies to the role of the LPN are discussed. Personal, Empirical, Ethical and Aesthetic patterns of knowing are emphasized. Therapeutic communication techniques applicable to nursing situations are discussed. The role of the LPN in delegation and management of client care are introduced. Corequisites: BIO 121 and NRS 130 and NRP 101 Prerequisites: Admission into the Practical Nursing Certificate Program
