IST 133 - Troubleshooting Apps & H’ware


This course introduces students to basic desktop computing hardware, including configuration, diagnostics and repair, preventive maintenance, and interaction with software and operating systems. Students will learn about networking topologies, protocols, and modeling. Students will participate in hands-on projects in these areas. Students will learn how to select an appropriate computer, upgrade and maintain existing equipment, troubleshoot and repair non-functioning personal computers, build a working computer from parts. Utilizing hands-on labs and/or simulations, students will be able to demonstrate the IT tasks employers seek. Students will prepare for the first CompTIA A+ exam.

The final exam will prepare them for the first part of the TestOut PC Pro certification exam taken in IST134
