John Deere Tech Major Information

|
This major is designed to develop technically competent professional agricultural equipment service technicians. Students receive state-of-the-art technical education on the latest John Deere equipment through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory instruction and supervised occupational work experience at a John Deere dealership.

Student Learning Outcomes
Student will be able to:
- Diagnose and repair John Deere engines.
- Diagnose and repair John Deere suspension and steering systems.
- Diagnose and repair John Deere brake systems.
- Diagnose and repair John Deere electrical/electronic systems.
- Diagnose and repair John Deere Preventive maintenance systems.
- Diagnose and repair John Deere drivelines.
- Diagnose and repair John Deere heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
- Diagnose and repair John Deere fluid power systems.
Sponsorship Required
Students are required to obtain sponsorship from an authorized John Deere dealership. Owens Community College will assist in student placement or locate students for businesses needing a co-op student. Sponsoring John Deere dealerships provide paid training-related employment during the work experience component.
Career Interests
Graduates are prepared for careers as technicians in operations, maintenance, service, testing, diagnosis and development.
Indiana Reciprocity
Indiana residents who enroll at Owens Community College in the John Deere, AAS program may be eligible to pay the Ohio resident fees instead of the out-of-state fees. Information regarding Indiana reciprocity can be found at https://www.owens.edu/records/indiana.pdf.
