Background

Barbara Seguine has been an occupational therapy practitioner since 1993 and an educator of occupational therapy assistants since 1996.  Prior to her coming to Owens Community College in 2005, she was an instructor and the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator at Lourdes College.  Her clinical practice includes experience in the areas of long-term care, rehabilitation, and mental health. 

Professional Activities

Barbara is a member of the Ohio Occupational Therapy Association (OOTA) and the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).  Barbara has been involved in local, state, and national professional activities during her years as an occupational therapy practitioner.  She is currently an appointed member of the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).  She has served in numerous capacities in the district and state associations.  Barbara has received service awards and the 2009 Model Practice Award from the Ohio Occupational Therapy Association, and the 2007 Mentor Award from the University Of Toledo Department Of Occupational Therapy.  Ms. Seguine was awarded the Roster of Honor from the American Occupational Therapy Association in 2017 fpr excellence in leadership, practice, education, and professional service. She has presented at a number of state and local occupational therapy association conferences over the years as well as to a variety of community groups.  She currently serves on the University of Toledo Occupational Therapy program advisory board.

Background

Cheryl Paeth has been a clinical Occupational Therapist since 2004, has supervised occupational therapy and occupational therapy students in the clinic since 2005.  She started as adjunct instructor in Spring 2014, moving into full time educator for occupational therapy assistants in Fall 2014 while also being responsible for Fieldwork and Service Learning.  Cheryl has experience in most areas in occupational therapy while her passions are in lymphedema, hand injuries, outpatient, acute care, craniosacral therapy, and educating the public and other clinicians in topics related to occupational therapy.  Her personal mission statement is to “Educate, empower, and enrich people”.

Professional Activities

Cheryl is a member of the Ohio Occupational Therapy Association (OOTA) and the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), and has taught a variety of continuing education courses to the OOTA, groups of therapists and Doctors, patients, and families. She has been Certified in Lymphedema Therapy (CLT) since 2006 and received the Continuing Education Award at OOTA in 2013, and is currently pursuing education in craniosacral therapy.  Cheryl is a published author of a Blind peer-reviewed continuing education publication, “Basics of Lymphedema”, Today in OT, in 2011 and 2016. Cheryl also volunteers in her community.
