The Owens Business programs are a member of National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship.


The Entrepreneurship Technical Major has been developed for those students who desire to own their own, or work within the small business environment. Our E-Ship program has been structured to include coursework that will develop the student’s foundational business knowledge so that they can successfully compete in the small business environment. The program also concentrates on the core business functions by way of small business examples, applications and opportunities. Once the student has completed the E-Ship programs core course work, they will then as a final requirement, create their own all important business plan (and defend this plan) in the programs capstone course.

Student Learning Outcomes:

  • Students will recognize ethical, legal, and socially responsible business practices.
  • Students will identify, analyze, and develop possible solutions for organizational issues utilizing appropriate business and technological tools.
  • Students will demonstrate leadership and the ability to manage time, tasks, and interpersonal relationships.
  • Students will demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills using the delivery methods appropriate to the business environment.
