OTA 111 - OTA Professional Foundations


This course will explain the uniqueness of the therapeutic relationship and describe how the use of self is used as one of the tools of therapy.  Class activities will enable the student to develop self-awareness and gain skills for effective therapeutic relationships and growth in professional behaviors, professional development, and advocacy.  Students will demonstrate that essential to the domain of OT practice is advocacy utilizing the AOTA Code of Ethics, and Core Values and Attitudes of Occupational Therapy.  Students will gain foundational skills in documentation, health literacy, evidence based practice, promoting interprofessional relationships, and mentoring.  This course offers students the opportunity to discuss the relationship among typical development, areas of performance, and contexts.  

Co-requisites: OTA 110  

Prerequisites: NONE
