IST 181 - Intro to Network Security

This course provides an overview of network security, compliance and operation security. It is aligned to the CompTIA’s Security+ exam. It introduces and explains the various types of threats and vulnerabilities that qualify as cyber crime and breeches of information security. Key topics include confidentiality, integrity, and availability of assets, classification, identification, and elimination of threats including malware, and internal and external hackers. Incident response techniques and development of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans are covered, as well as an emphasis on appropriate ethical responses and effective written and verbal communication to stakeholders. Students are prepared for the TestOut Security Pro Certification exam and the industry-recognized CompTIA Security+ certification
