Program Goals and Outcomes


The radiography program systematically collects, reviews and analyzes data and utilizes this information to improve student learning and educational quality. Student learning outcomes have been developed from the program goals and correlate to the mission statement.

Mission of the Radiography Program

The mission of the radiography program sponsored by Owens Community College is to provide the healthcare community with compassionate, competent & professional radiographers.

Program Goals & Student Learning Outcomes

Goal 1:      Students will be clinically competent.

  Student Learning Outcomes:

    Students will demonstrate patient care skills.

    Students will select appropriate technical factors.

 

Goal 2:      Students will utilize critical thinking skills and problem solving skills.

  Student Learning Outcomes:

    Students will analyze image quality.

    Students will analyze critical thinking in the performance of Radiographic procedures.

   

Goal 3:      Students will utilize communication skills effectively.

  Student Learning Outcomes:

    Students will demonstrate effective verbal skills.

    Students will demonstrate effective written skills.

 

Goal 4:      Students will demonstrate professionalism when dealing with the public.

  Student Learning Outcomes:

    Students will maintain a professional conduct in the clinical setting. 

    Students will demonstrate an appreciation for service learning.

The number of students who pass, on the first attempt, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification examination, or an unrestricted state licensing examination, compared with the number of graduates who take the examination within six months of graduation. The five-year average benchmark established by the JRCERT is 75%
