Faculty and Staff


 

Suellen Barnum, MHA/ED, RT(MR)(R), Chair, Suellen is a graduate of Owens Community College Class of 1993 with an Associate of Applied Science degree with a major in Radiography.  She has a Bachelor of Science with a major in Independent Studies degree from the University of Toledo in 2007 and a Master of Healthcare Administration with emphasis in Education degree from the University of Phoenix in 2011.

Suellen is a registered technologist through the ARRT in Radiography and Magnetic Resonance.  She has been employed full time in medical imaging in various facilities for over 20 years in Magnetic Resonance imaging and/ or Radiography.  Suellen became a member of the Owens Community College MRI program faculty in 2013.  Suellen is a member of the Ohio Society of Radiologic Technologist and The Section for Magnetic Resonance Technologists.

Suellen currently is the Chair Program Director.  On campus, Suellen teaches MRI Physics, as well as the Capstone course for the graduating students.

 

 

 

Mary Jo Eiden, BS, RT(R)(MR) (ARRT), Joint Clinical Education Coordinator, is the MRI Clinical Education Coordinator for the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Associate degree program.  Mary Jo graduated from Lima Technical College in 1989 with an Associate’s degree of Applied Science with major in Radiography at which time she became credentialed by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.  She is also credentialed as a registered MRI Technologist with the ARRT. She began her MRI career in 1990 performing MRI scans with a mobile MRI company, Medical Consultants Imaging Company, located in Cleveland, Ohio.  She completed a Bachelor degree in Health Care Administration with the University of Northwestern Ohio in 2012.

Mary Jo has been with Owens Community College since the beginning of the MRI program. She teaches the Introduction to MRI Physics lab course, MRI Procedures I lecture and lab course, and MRI Procedures II lecture and lab course.  She has also been a Clinical Coordinator for outlying MRI Clinic sites. She was active in Owens Community College getting the MRI program nationally accredited.

Mary Jo currently works for Mercy Health/St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, Ohio as a registered MRI Technologist. She is an employee for the Orthopedic Institute of Ohio as a registered MRI Technologist as well. She is excited to be employed in the field of MRI, as well as having this opportunity to teach current students the knowledge needed to become proficient registry-eligible MRI Technologists.

 

 

 

 

Catherine Ford, M.Ed, RT(R), Dean, graduated from Owens Community College with an Associate of Applied Science degree, major Radiography in 1979 at which time she became credentialed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Catherine joined Owens Community College in 1982 and went on to complete Bachelors of Interdisciplinary Studies and Masters of Education degrees at the University of Toledo. She is a member of the Association of Educators in Radiologic Sciences and the American Society of Radiologic Technologists. She is also a member of the Ohio Society of Radiologic Technologists where she has served as co-chair of the Education Committee and participated in revising the laws that govern medical imagers in the state of Ohio. Catherine also serves as a Site Visit Team Chair for the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology.

Catherine provides leadership in budget planning, assessment of student learning and curriculum revision. Though her duties are primarily administrative, she does enjoy time in the classroom with students when they are enrolled in their capstone course in their last semester.

Cindy Grey, Joint Clinical Education Coordinator, graduated from Owens Community College in 1991 with an Associate Applied Science Degree in Radiography. Cindy has a Bachelor Business Management with Honors from the University of Findlay in 2001. Cindy is registered by the ARRT in Radiography, Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance. Cindy has retired from University of Toledo Medical Center as the Lead MRI Technologist. Cindy continues to the Lead MRI Technologist for Owens Community College. Cindy has the shared role of Clinical Education Coordinator and instructs the MRI Patient Care and Safety course as well as working the MRI lab on campus.
