Faculty and Staff


Amy Crofts, MHA/Ed.,RT(R)(QM), Department Chair, Amy graduated from Owens Community College in 1998 with an Associate of Applied Science degree, majoring in Radiography. She worked full-time at area hospitals for 10 years. During this time she was pursuing a Bachelors of Arts degree at the University of Toledo, graduating in 2008. In 2011 she earned a Masters of Health Administration/Education degree from the University of Phoenix. Amy also holds post-primary registration in Quality Management through the ARRT. She joined Owens Community College in 2005 as a Clinical Instructor assisting students in the clinic site. Amy is also a member of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists as well as the Ohio Society of Radiologic Technologists. Catherine Ford


Catherine Ford, M.Ed, RT(R), Dean, graduated from Owens Community College with an Associate of Applied Science degree, major Radiography in 1979 at which time she became credentialed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Catherine joined Owens Community College in 1982 and went on to complete Bachelors of Interdisciplinary Studies and Masters of Education degrees at the University of Toledo. She is a member of the Association of Educators in Radiologic Sciences and the American Society of Radiologic Technologists. She is also a member of the Ohio Society of Radiologic Technologists where she has served as co-chair of the Education Committee and participated in revising the laws that govern medical imagers in the state of Ohio. Catherine also serves as a Site Visit Team Chair for the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology.

Catherine provides leadership in budget planning, assessment of student learning and curriculum revision. Though her duties are primarily administrative, she does enjoy time in the classroom with students when they are enrolled in their capstone course in their last semester.

 

Catherine Ford

Stacie Gessler, Program Coordinator General and Vascular Concentrations, received her Diagnostic Medical Sonography education from Owens Community College in 1992 and became credentialed in Obstetrics/Gynecology and Abdomen shortly after graduating. While employed as a Sonographer, she gained extensive clinical experience in Vascular Technology and became credentialed in Vascular Ultrasound. Additionally, Stacie earned her Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Toledo in 2012. Stacie’s love for academia eventually led her to a full-time faculty position at Owens State Community College in 2013 as the Coordinator for the General and Vascular Sonography Programs.

Stacie is responsible for the structure and daily operation of both the general and vascular Sonography programs. She works collaboratively with the faculty in reviewing and developing course materials to ensure the effectiveness of the program curricula. Stacie also works closely with the clinical coordinator toward maintaining excellent clinical experiences for enrolled students. In addition, Stacie teaches lecture and laboratory courses on campus and visits students in the clinical affiliates.

 

Julie Posey, Received her Diagnostic Medical Sonography education from Owens Community College in 2005 and became credentialed in Abdomen and Obstetrics/Gynecology shortly after graduation. While employed as a Sonographer, she cross trained into Vascular Technology and became registered in 2009. Julie is currently working on her Bachelors degree from Siena Heights University. Her teaching duties include lectures, vascular sonography lab as well as clinical instruction. Julie is also the Vascular Clinical Education Coordinator.

Danielle Urbaniak, Clinical Education Coordinator General Concentration, received her Diagnostic Medical Sonography education from Owens Community College in 2005 with an Associates of Applied Science.  She became credentialed in Abdomen, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Breast, and Neurosonography in 2006.  Danielle worked at a Breast Care facility and Pediatric hospital in Florida for the first seven years of her career.  In 2013 Danielle moved back to the Toledo area and accepted a position within the Sonography program at Owens Community College and at Bay Park Hospital.  In addition to working in her sonography career, she is currently working towards her Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Toledo.

Danielle works closely with the program coordinator to ensure program success.  She is responsible for coordinating clinical education with didactic education and evaluating and ensuring the effectiveness of the clinical affiliates.  Danielle visits student in the clinical setting, facilitates communication between students, clinical instructors and the program coordinator.  She is responsible for coordinating the open lab schedule and communication between students and open lab instructors.
